The Ragdoll Cat
The Ragdoll cat is a hybrid breed. The Ragdolls exact
origins remain a mystery, but we do know that the late Ann Baker originated the
breed in Riverside, California in the early 1960's.
Ragdolls make ideal pets and lifelong companions. They
are gentle, quiet and sweet natured. Their coats are medium to long and have a
plush, silky, rabbit-like texture. They are non-matting and low-shedding.
Ragdolls
are easy going and get along well with children, dogs, and other pets. They also
adapt readily to changes in their surroundings.
While Ragdolls are quiet cats, they are extremely active
and playful and love to interact with humans. They are dog like in this respect
and will follow their human around like a puppy. Also, to their humans goes the
honor of serving as the lap for the cat when it is time for relaxation.
Ragdolls should be strictly indoor cats and should never
be allowed to roam outdoors. Due to their quiet, passive nature, they are unable
to defend themselves against predators.
